Description
In early Angkor, Shiva was revered as the supreme Hindu god, often depicted alongside his wife Uma (Parvati) in temple bas-reliefs that used hierarchical scale to emphasize their divine authority. These temples, once vibrant centers of worship, were dedicated to honoring their cosmic significance. Though these sacred sites no longer served their original function, the mythic presence of the gods still lingers. Tourists, drawn by the ancient grandeur, become modern pilgrims, their quiet reverence reflecting the devotion of past worshippers. As they explore the ruins, they unknowingly pay homage to the enduring spiritual legacy, breathing new life into the old stones where the divine continues to inspire awe and reflection.
