Description

Harihara is a composite deity in Hinduism, symbolizing the union of Vishnu (Hari) and Shiva (Hara), and embodying the dual aspects of preservation and destruction. Once prominent in Cambodia during the Funan and Chenla periods, Harihara’s worship waned with the rise of the Angkor Empire. This artwork reimagines the Chenla-era depiction of Harihara through the lens of 1960s San Francisco psychedelic art.
