Description

Back when I used to live near a traditional wet market. I am always fascinated by the tuk tuk carts that showed up with all manner of bargain-price things hanging from the bamboo grilles on either side – broom, baskets, fruit pickers, spirit houses, terracotta animal-shaped coin bank… you name it, there’s bound to be one cart carry it, serving the everyday needs of Cambodians. And because, in this part of the world, the mundane and the magical often live side by side, I imagine playful, benign versions of mythical creatures such as the Makara, the Mrenh kongveal (elves), the Reahu and the Yeak (gaint) hitching a ride on one of these mobile general stores.
